A Vision Born from the Field
MAKES grew out of the lifelong commitment of environmentalist and sewage-treatment specialist Muhammad Ameen Keryo. Years spent immersed in sanitation development, ecosystem repair and community-driven environmental work convinced him that lasting change comes from affordable, locally-suited technology — not imported complexity. That conviction became a company, and under his stewardship MAKES has carried out and supported a wide span of environmental initiatives that have drawn acknowledgement from bodies at home and abroad.
Introducing Biological Wastewater Treatment to Pakistan
A defining chapter in Mr. Keryo’s journey was helping bring the country its first biologically-driven effluent treatment built on reed-bed and wetland technology. Mentored by the esteemed environmental authority Dr. Roshan Raj Shrestha, he championed nature-powered alternatives to conventional plants — proving that sewage can be cleaned through natural microbial cycles while slashing energy use, running costs and ecological strain. Those early successes opened the door for similar systems to be replicated region by region, and MAKES remains a recognised authority in their design, oversight and refinement today.
